Aston-Patterning® Bodywork and Movement
As an Aston-Patterning practitioner, I tailor each therapy session to the specific needs of your body. Through a detailed history and pretreatment observation of simple and specific movements, I ascertain your postural alignment and tension holding patterns.
By assessing your body’s natural integrity and alignment, I design a specific movement therapy that allows your body to be dynamic, move naturally, and improve its function, balance, and coordination.
“Spiraling Touch, part of the Aston-Patterning approach, releases unessential tension from surface to bone. This painless, hands-on approach respects and matches the layer, shape and grain of the soft tissue, allowing me to work from surface layers through to the bone with ease. Specialized attention is placed on keeping the whole body in balance as localized tension is released.
K.M.I. Structural Integration - Bodywork Therapy
Developed by Rolfer/anatomist Thomas Myers, this bodywork therapy is designed to rebalance the body, improve posture by releasing life-long holding patterns of tension and stress, and restore the natural alignment and integration inherent in the body’s design.
The KMI (Kinesis Myofascial Integration) method involves the slow, gentle and deep stretching and opening of the body’s fascial and myofascial tissue coupled with movement reeducation. The method is designed to counteract the adverse effect of poor postural habits and the aftereffects of injury or trauma. The goal of structural integration is to restore
This integrative session combines awareness through movement and breathing designed specifically for the client. The structural change will increase range of motion, flexibility, balance and reduce or remove pain.
Reeducate your Body
Movement education, or neuro-kinetics, is a vital aspect of Aston-Patterning. The goal is to elicit easy, efficient and less stressful ways of performing simple movements and release accumulated tension in the body. Through step-by-step coaching, I’ll teach you effortless ways to reduce physical stress and strain, and sustain the effects from the bodywork.
I also offer onsite work to help seniors and teenagers with postural imbalances.
Prenatal massage is therapeutic bodywork that is gentle, noninvasive and focuses on the special needs of the mother-to-be. It enhances the function of muscles and joints, improves circulation and general body tone, and relieves mental and physical fatigue. The benefits of prenatal massage include a wide range of physiological, emotional and psychological benefits.
